Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

33 Days till Spring

The plants in our backyard don't seem to know that spring's arrival--March 20th--is more than a month away. This photo is of one of the many succulents growing here at "fun"ville. I don't have a fancy camera, nor a lensbaby, but I think this captures the blooming happening here.

I thought about photographying some of the "hearts" leftover from Valentines Day. There's hearts and candies and poems everywhere ;-) I especially wanted to show you the "chubby" hearts--a string of lighted sparkly red hearts that I surprised Mr. Fun with, when I draped them in the bedroom Saturday night. Mr. Fun says they "are chubby." I love that Barb of Retirement in Montana suggested that we just keep on celebrating Valentines till the end of February. That sounds like so much fun and we'll probably do that quietly here at "fun"ville; however, I think I have extended Valentines about as far as permissible here on Blip. And I am sorry that I didn't, but should have, hunted for a new poetry book this season so I'll have something to use next year. I really had fun with Kooser's poems.

Tomorrow is the BIG day . . . the 2010 spring semester begins. I meet my first classroom full of students at 8:10 in the morning. The class is full with a capacity of 30 students--that's 5 over the recommendation of the National Council of Teachers of English. When I last looked, I had 28 people on the waiting list for each of my classes. The recession has brought many people to the community college. I've been emailing with a Fire Captain in a nearby community who is #4 on one of my waitlists and is very concerned about getting in. I think tomorrow is going to feel like summer with a predicted temperature of 82 degrees (don't think I'll wear a turtleneck shirt). So tomorrow ought to will be interesting.

Thank you everyone for all the comments the past several days. I have absolutely enjoyed celebrating Valentine's here in blipland and seeing what you were doing.

Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
