Happy Birthday, Dolly!
Today my loyal companion and best friend turned 15!
Every day we have together is precious!
Her birthday celebrations started last night when a friend came over to bring her some small presents. Her favourites were a big bag of pigs ears and a little (toy) dog called Benji.
This morning I had to run some errands but Dolly was happy to stay home and cuddle up with the new little dog. When I got home we had a rest together on the garden swing and then I baked a cake. We then went to our favourite picnic place and watched the sunset. Dolly was happy to nibble on another pigs ear that I brought along and didn't even bother begging for my ham sandwich - very unusual! The sunset was a bit disappointing but we did see some pink sky. Dolly also had a good run around - she doesn't let being 15 stop her!
The BBC was kind enough to schedule the Last Night of the Proms on the evening of Dolly's birthday. Since she is the only member of our immediate family to actually be born in the UK, it is right that we spend this evening of her birthday celebrating all things British! Actually - even though I am first and foremost American, the Last Night of the Proms is one of the times when I am immensely proud to be British as well. We have our Union Jack ready to wave during this iconic evening of music and patriotism! (Now, if I could only persuade my Scottish friends!)
