Letter from a friend

Mam's friend S was a truly lovely woman and she kept in touch with me after Mam died. She sent presents to the girls at Christmas and birthdays, even Easter, and we kept in touch between times by letter. She lost her husband and found that hard to cope with. Afterwards she became sick too and sadly lost her own battle soon after. I sent a letter to her address after she died, to the family she loved, and told them about how wonderful she had been to me and my family. She kept some of my Mam alive after she had gone, and losing S was like losing Mam again.
Yesterday I received a lovely letter from S's daughter. She said how her mum had displayed photos of my girls in the house and how she had talked a lot about my mam and dad and their friendship. It was heartwarming.

She would like to stay in touch. I'm so happy and I look forward to learning more about her own family. It's also very nice to get letters through the post, such a rarity these days.
