B52 Stratofortress

We had a great day out at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford but it didn’t half take its toll on me. I was completely exhausted but also very pleased to have been able to walk around for as long as I did; I just needed many more breaks than anyone else. I thought that the kids would get bored and we wouldn’t need to do so much walking but they absolutely loved it.

I am always mesmerised by this former USAF B52 bomber on display at Duxford. It is housed in, and pretty much fills, a specially built hanger for American aircraft and I just find it incredible to think that they can get these things off the ground. Due to its sheer size and the limitations of space, it is not feasible with my lens to get a photo of the entire aircraft, so this will have to do.
