Secret Cinema Club

Picked Audrey up early tonight and as the kitchen was unusable (damn house improvements!) we went to the Laundrette for tea.

It's been a while since Audrey and I have gone out to eat on our own and I was amazed how much she has come on in a social setting. She was chatting happily to the waitress "high chair?" "orange juice please" and "my Daddy at work" etc and had neighbouring tables cooing over her. She sat happily on my lap as we waited for our pizza "too hot Mummy, way too hot" (seriously, where does she get these phrases from?) playing with crayons and slurping her orange juice through a straw. We even had a little chat about her day at nursery.

When I'd picked her up, I happened upon the most wonderful scene. All the tables and chairs pushed back in her room and Audrey and her friends dancing to Bare Necessities. She looked so happy! And she was really interacting which was wonderful to see. She does love her new room at nursery.

I had a mixed day of work and play. After a conference call this morning, I headed to the Trafford Centre to get some stuff for the holiday and bumped into my friend Laura.

And do you know what we did? We went to a lunchtime showing of a movie. Because we had no children in tow and we could (Laura is on maternity leave and I'm well...self employed ha ha). And it was wonderful. It felt so decadent and naughty but lovely too! We saw Before You Go To Sleep which was a book I never finished so it meant the film (Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman) still had lots of twists and suspense for me. It was great and we were both sobbing by the end! Laura's pregnancy hormones and my medicated ones!

All in all another great day!
