Father's Day.
My dad has been gone now for sixteen years but his memory lingers. I can still smell a whiff of his tobacco in this old pipe, and sometimes just this long ago memory is just enough to bring him close to me again.
A Very Happy Father's Day for today to all the blipper-Dad's. If you still have a father, cherish him....and if your dad is playing darts or cards in the heavens above with mine, I hope today you will be remembering your dad with the same fond memories that I am remembering mine.
The family will be here for a bar-b-que lunch shortly, to spend some time with their dad, and my husband's 80 year old father will be here with us too.
What Makes A Dad.
"God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so....he called it Dad." ~ Author Unknown.
