Miners Castle

One of the bittersweet characteristics of Pictured Rocks is that you can't actually see any pictured rocks from land. You need to a boat to find out why it's so aptly named. One thing that you can see from land are a few of parks more obscure rock formations like Miners Castle pictured above. Erosion and time have carved unique structures out the limestone and brownstone shoreline. In the background you can see Grand Island which was closed to visitors this summer due to an unusual bear problem.
