The Stormy NIGHT Sky

Yes, I said night. It's pitch dark out there. I had previously focused on the distant (not my usual) palm tree as darkness had fallen. I kept trying to capture something interesting in the photo besides the tree - narrowly missing a vertical bolt of lightening at one point that flashed directly behind it.

But as darkness approached, there was an increasing amount of sheet lightening. No cloud to ground bolts, just sheets that light up the sky as if it was broad daylight. The photo I've posted here is a result of a capture of a flash of sheet lightening brightening up the sky during tonight's pretty wicked thunderstorm. If you look closely, you might be able to make out the line of mountains in the background, but the clouds are pretty thick.
