What Is It Wednesday?

Yeah, I know it's Thursday, but I thought the title sounded better with 2 W's.

I spent 7 hours on the computer and the phone today...trying to firm up our reservations for the October hike. I made some good headway, and I think we have a plan in place now. We'll have to be on the phone at 8 a.m. sharp on Monday, to set things up. Fingers crossed.

The most interesting fact today? One of the 3-sided shelters we were looking to stay at...is closed due to...to...to...bear activity. Oh yeah!

Here's a couple clues for figuring out the picture.
1. The dark part can be called many words. Among them are words that rhyme with dresses, with docks, with pearls, with pain, and with mare.
2. No synonyms for the lighter part, but it rhymes with Kings, rings, strings, swings, and many other things.
