Dibley meets Dad's Army

This Sunday is our RBL branch annual parade where finally we shall dedicate the new Standard (flag) and lay down the old one. It's done in the church and has taken over a year to get organised. Tonight we had a small rehearsal (without the minister). There are two Standard bearers and four escorts, two of us each side of the Standards. I've got to be an escort, along with another girlie, well she's not exactly a girlie, she's a military nurse of some considerable stature but we were giggling like a couple of girlies after I made a remark about it all being a bit 'Dads Army' to which she replied it reminded her more of 'The Vicar of Dibley'

To be fair, it's good that we know what the procedure will be on Sunday evening so that we can give the Standards the send off & welcome they deserve.

Our little branch of the Legion is lucky to have its own member with an MBE for his services to the RBL and some wonderful ex and current service personnel....and then there's me. It needs new members though, young blood, enthusiasm and new ideas. I think it's going to take time...yes yes yes yes no!
