Big Bike Breakfast

This morning I called in at the annual Big Bike Breakfast on my way to college. It's organised by Cycling Dumfries and held outside the council offices. The idea is for cyclists to stop by for breakfast and to make known their views on how things could be improved so that more people would use their bikes instead of cars.
About half of my 10 mile commute is on shared cycle/pedestrian paths, which is generally quite pleasant. A few of the things which make cycling difficult are : Cars
passing too close and too fast. Cars or lorries parked in cycle lanes. Pedestrians with headphones who can't hear my bell. Dogs on very long leads stretched across the path like a tripwire... but on most days, everything goes smoothly, the sun shines, and I feel alive and happy.
Here is Rosie offering me a banana muffin and some plums from her garden, both of which were delicious.
Behind her are some councillors. Somehow I don't think they cycled to work.
