A Journey In Time

Meeting friends for lunch, and meeting other friends for tea - it's a hard life!

Not much time for blipping today, so resorting to posting a photo of an information board I spotted a few days ago (and to which I returned today expressly for getting this post online). This information panel sits in Cumbernauld Town Centre next to a rather uninviting car park, and across from an equally uninviting bridge to the uninspiring Town Centre complex.

The 'Did You Know?' notice states that "Weaving was big industry here in the 17th century." A time when what is now the Town Centre and most of Cumbernauld New Town, with the exception of The Village and Condorrat, consisted of farm-dwellings - from which the weaving was carried out. I imagine the weavers are still spinning, but now spinning in their graves at what has become of Comar-nan-allt.
