London skyline - looking North east

What a wonderful day!
Seabreeze and I went on a trip to London as she had an appointment there.
We parked in Shad Thames, having enjoyed lunch in All-bar-one, she went to her appointment, and I walked over Tower bridge to the Tower of London. The sea of poppies in the moat is looking increasingly impressive, with poppies spilling out of a window, and over the walls in a tide of red.
The whole thing is very thought provoking, with each of the 888,246 hand made ceramic poppies representing a British military death in World War 1. As you stand in front of this installation named 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' you get a sense of the enormity of the loss of life, 888,246 is just a number, when you actually see the poppies you realise how large that number actually is!
The poppies will continue to be placed until the final one on November 11th ( I plan to visit again in October), following that the poppies will be removed and are being sold for £25 each , I know I am going to buy one, a real piece of history.
After all this emotion I walked back across Tower bridge, photographing the Shard with it's top firmly in the clouds, and met up with Seabreeze who had finished her appointment.
We then went for a drink in Aqua shard on the 32nd floor of the Shard..WOW!! what an amazing experience, we drank virgin cocktails, sitting at a table by the window, overlooking London slowly fading into dusk ....it was wonderful watching the lights coming on, we saw Tower bridge light up, and the gherkin..Totally amazing!
Sadly, it then started to rain and we had a wet walk back to Shad Thames, but I was walking on air!
It has been a very thought provoking day, and everyone who came to the window in the shard, remarked on the upcoming 9/11 anniversary. Being 32 floors up with London on high alert certainly puts things in perspective.
I could have blipped so many things, but I have blipped this view of London from the 32nd floor , as you can clearly see the red tide in the moat round the Tower, pulling the whole day together nicely I think.
