1st September 2014
Plans for today was haircut, lunch and afternoon at the park. 2 out of 3 wasn't bad I guess.
Had the call from the care home to say Dad was kicking off again; had his coat on and was standing by the front door demanding to go out. So could I go over for a meeting and to help calm him down. So I had to drag the girls over with me after our haircuts. The carers even advised me not to take the kids to his room as even they were unsure of how violent he would get. So they sat in the conservatory entertaining the old dears whilst I went for a meeting with the manageress. She's called the dementia crisis team and the doctor to get help for him and them. The only way I can see anyway forward for Dad is for him to start receiving medication. She agreed with me but I bet it doesn't happen. She doesn't like Dad upsetting her happy old ladies club and she wants him out. She speaks to him like he's a child, no wonder he gets angry. So I talked to Dad and promised him that we'll go out more often and hopefully that will help him feel like part of the human race again.
Got home later than planned but lovely Mr S still took is out for lunch at the local Turkish restaurant. The kids loved it: breads, dips, salads, cheeses, kebabs, rice, olives, more breads and a sweet pastry dessert followed by very sweet turkish delight. So full that we skipped our evening meal! Popped into the library after lunch and then home to relax. It rained; over park visit had to be postponed.
I really hope the care home doesn't phone tomorrow as we're planning to be out all day.
