Crab crawling

Teddy did his first crawling today, but it was without knees and sideways rather than forwards so I'm calling it crab crawling. Here he is in the sunlight on the parquet floor of his new house, empty and shortly to be renovated.

Church was first today and a good call. I lit a candle for B and read the second lesson. I had a brief moment towards the end but was in the right place to seek strength and comfort.

I then bombed over to C's new house and basically spent the whole day playing with Teddy either on the floor or on a rug in the garden while his parents gardened and slashed and burned. We collected some apples and I ate a delicious pear from their tree. Teddy was determined to eat as much grass and as many ants as he could. Yuk! He was a delight though and we giggled and played for hours.

Then we had a late lunch at a dining pub in the next village, which was excellent. Teddy sat beautifully in his high chair, ate well and didn't make a sound except to laugh and giggle and chat up the ladies on the next table. I was impressed.

We then went to B's to pick up a few things that B had wanted C to have. P was there doing yet more shredding. C very quickly found it all too much and said she didn't want to be there if B wasn't there so made a fairly swift exit after some hugs. It's funny what triggers we each have.

I came home to ring round some more of B's friends and contacts from her address book. People are so kind and many do want to come to her funeral it seems. The words 'eccentric', 'funny', 'mad' and 'well loved' all came up more than once. I do hope we get a good turn out on Friday as I am expecting, as this would be the best tribute to B that she could ask for.

C (who will be taking the service) called and she gave me the benefit of her experience on the order of service. She is a star. She'll be coming on Thursday night and wants a copy of the poem and the eulogy in advance to help her with her bits. It'll be good to have her here the night before and in the morning.
