Lifestyle on the Canal

For the last official day of the August Challenge I wandered along the canal after a fairly tough session at the gym! Two aims: one, to get a backlight on some teasel heads (failed) two: an image to convey a lifestyle on the canal - I'll leave you to be the judge on whether I succeeded there or not. Lots of people do live on these boats and waterways and many choose to spend their holidays or leisure time on the canals too.

I was lucky in having a boat actually moving - not many do along this particular stretch as a lock is being repaired further downstream - and this one was clearly not a 'tripper'. I also photographed a fisherman (after a lengthy conversation about maggots!) and a Bailiff for the fishing fraternity where the conversation was on his bull mastiff dog. It's amazing who you get to talk to along a canal!

Thanks to everyone who has taken part in this challenge. I have really enjoyed seeing everyone's contributions, ideas and skills. We are up to 684 'entries' so I'll keep it rumbling on for those who want and see if we can get to 1001! I plan to join in on the Technique Challenge too, so will be dipping in and out!
