Compare and contrast

A spent this morning looking through my latest Salgado book, Genesis, a birthday present from B.

Its big, its dramatic and it contains some astonishing and beautiful images but there seems to be something missing - maybe its his passion for people or maybe this scale is just too epic. Five hundred pages of big black and white photographs.

I looked at it alongside his previous work Workers and to be honest, the earlier work just seems more coherent and understated but very powerful.
