Last of the honey bees?

Different flowers are now supplying food for the remaining insects. There were no signs of butterflies and very few bumblebees. But for some reason plenty of hoverflies and honey bees.

I even saw 3 separate sightings of hornets hunting. Two were in the usual floral labyrinth area of the gardens, and the other was right at the other end of the lake, where I've never seen them before.

As I walked around the lake the local fire brigade were setting up for a water rescue practice. They use the lake a few times of the year to do this.
