Robin Barclay - one a day

Don at his boat in voe of Cunningsburgh

Don asked me to give him a hand in the afternoon to load mackerel he had caught in the morning into boxes (with ice) and to take them up to the fish market in Lerwick (for tomorrow's sale). Unlike recently there were lots of mackerel around today, but many were small and had to be thrown back. There were still some small mackerel amongst the others, so most were fed to Hughey the "tame" harbour seal who will practically take them from your hand (I wish I'd have known about him while the kids were here). Will put some images on my Shetland folio.
My motor mower had been delivered in the morning, so I had had a chance to try it out before Don phoned. I'm pleased with it, coped with short and long grass - a Mountfield (Italian) four-stroke petrol - and very pleased (as usual) with Allen's of Gillock service and advice. Must remember to get it serviced within the year to comply with the guarantee!
