Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

GLUT

The search for ways to use the glut continues. For lunch we had lettuce and mint soup. For supper we had some mushy minted broad beans with our haggis. In the interest of unbiased reporting, I have to admit that while everything else flourished, the total beetroot crop would fit on a tea plate and the turnip looked lovely until I dug them up and discovered they had all been eaten underneath.

I feel the summer is slipping through my fingers, but I welcome the edgy chill of the autumn mornings with their refreshing promise of autumn activities. Routine, like fibre, is so good for us.
