A Peaceful Place

This is the view from Stoney Royd Cemetery overlooking Halifax.
The cemetery was opened in 1861 and uses the sloping site to advantage with terracing and a network of serpentine paths with views over the town.
There is something about the Victorian cemeteries that I find fascinating - and they are such a peaceful place to have a stroll around.
