An Other View on Carlsheaven

We are coming through. The past four days we had several whirlwinds blowing through the Hillside House. Here we have the counterpart of our internal/exchanging removal from our seaside centre towards the longtime riverside stay. So also here room has to be made to move “things” in later on. So there is a need for specific furniture and storage place. And we were so lucky to find the good second-hand stuff to our taste. Now after the transport and heavy uphill lifting, “things” are moved into place for further assemblage and finishing...next time. That gives a feeling of satisfaction.

Meanwhile during the same days we countered a tough leakage problem. Which of course started with a waterballet with unknown cause(s). A riddle to unravel. Water flowing over the floors - fortunately tiled -, streaming up through walls..? Too much rainwater coming downhill, overfilling the sewersystem? No clue. So after calming down in the course of the day, the next morning started with even a fiercer ballet. But, after research&taking measures and even calling off the plumber on the third day, I managed to get the breakthrough by tackling a deep drainblockage on various fronts. This morning that turned out to be succesfull. So we all can take a shower again and do the laundry without the need of mopping&cleaning up the floors.

Every house has its special character, the pitfalls included. As a newcomer on the grounds, between the walls and under the roof, you are invited to behave yourself with kind respect towards the house spirits. If you want to learn and discover its secrets, you need serenity. No panicking or overactivity, but just by looking and listening carefully. In the long run you will find hints and indications - plops, gurglings, old repair marks and alike - for entering a new phase in the story of the house, in which you are now participating in a more trustful way. I have learned, you know. That opens an other source of satisfaction and calmness. And that’s a fine inspiration to look through the Butterfly-Buddleya down over Carlsheaven and take a deep smiling breath. That gives an Other View.
