Mosta

We are in Malta today and have taken the local hop-on hop-off bus around the island revisiting some familiar places from past holidays.

This is the miracle church in Mosta. It has the third largest unsupported dome and during the Second World War a bomb struck the roof and landed inside the church just yards from the 300 congregation. Miraculously it did not explode and no-one was hurt.

After the war the pilot who dropped the bomb returned to Malta to apologise to the people of Mosta for his actions and there is now a festival to celebrate their escape.
I just love a happy ending.

Best of all, I got to swim in the sea. Wonderful!
