Tinariwen

Unusually for a school night Rol and I went to a gig at the Arts Centre to see Tinariwen, a collective of Tuareg musicians with an interesting history.

I loved every second of their performance but really wished I understood what they were singing about.

I had my camera with me but the battery died after about 5mins, which is no bad thing as it meant I could concentrate on the music. You can see the half dozen shots I took here if you wish. It was kind of an experiment in low light but I deliberately focused on the eyes and the veils on the faces of the musicians. Kind of reminded me of black bloc going 'into battle' masked.

It was a good end to a rather shitty day in which I felt frustrated and full of doubt.

This evening I got to spend time with Rol, have a natter with a lovely musician who I've not really spent any time with before and actually had a proper conversation with a fellow photographer based in Norwich who takes incredible photos of musicians.

Hey ho, tomorrow is a new day.
