Foody Friday - Ace

Foody Friday in chandler63's August Challenge.

Plans didn't work today.

Having worked late every day this week, I thought I'll work from home on Friday and avoid the Bank Holiday weekend traffic, and have a shorter day as well.

Then late on Thursday I received a text from my son - gearbox trouble on the Corsa on his way home from his final lesson before his Goods Vehicle today. M1, peak time, but he coped well and survived. However, he had no transport to get to his test. So it looked like a trip to Watford, where he was having his lessons, wait a couple of hours and return.

Working from home got off to a bad start - no remote access into servers I needed to get to (and no emails, so a bit of a bonus). Lots of time on the phone to Romania, who were unable to sort the problem, so it was handed over to the next level of support - in India. Result - most of my working day was spent trying to get a problem solved (same issue on a Windows 7 machine and a Linux machine, both of which have connected successfully in the past, so I can quite confidently say it's not my fault).

Son turned up at lunchtime, with the news that we weren't going to Watford, we were going to Park Royal, on the North Circular, so into London we had to go.

While waiting for him to go through his test, I headed off to get a cuppa somewhere, then discovered that I had no money with me, so couldn't. On my route around I made a small diversion to go to the Ace Café. A well known biker haunt and when it comes to cafés that aren't part of a chain probably one of the best known. Being the middle of a Friday afternoon, there weren't too many bikes there, but these 2 were brightly coloured, so I thought that a colour pop was in order (after all it only mono'd the sky as the building is black and white anyway.

Result of his test - a pass!, next is the Certificate of Professional Competency, without which he can drive big trucks, but only as long as he's not being paid.

Yesterday's blip was late being posted (rather like this one!).
