The life of a gymnast

So nothing exiting planned today other than waiting in for a delivery (decking going down at the weekend) and catching up on some work before the new term.

I dropped my daughter off at her squad camp, which means five days of 9 until 5 at the gym. I love sport and spent over 30 years pretty much living and breathing it, but my body has given up and I'm suffering with my knees these days. But I have so much respect for gymnasts, they are supreme athletes who spend endless hours in the gym living a life of repetition and perfection. I really thought my Emily would want to give up before she hit 8 years old, but after a few blips she is showing no signs of wanting to give up, ever!

It's a brutal sport, the tiniest of mistakes can cost you dearly. It's a lonely sport too, just you out there on the beam, bars or floor and it's all down to your performance. I loved playing hockey, because I was part of team, but if you made a mistake, you had time to recover your game and always had others to help you out. I have so much respect for gymnasts...but wouldn't want to be one!
