Fiesta time!

I had hoped to see one of the many fiestas whilst here in Menorca, so today we drove to Ferreires. Many road closures, but we finally found a parking spot, and followed the noise to the top of the town.

Many fiestas use the beautiful black Menorcan horses which rear up, and to get good luck you are supposed to run underneath and touch the horse's heart! Today, there were donkeys! Just my luck! It was chaotic, noisy and mad. The donkeys paraded up and down whilst their owners, carrying palms and being revered, were given drinks at every bar. People were pulled up onto the donkeys, and others grabbed hold of the poor things as they went around the town. Well - it was a new experience. As we left there were water fights, a loud band, and people dancing barefoot in the streets, and this was only at noon! Can only imagine what it would be like as the day went on! All very good humoured though.

Went off to Son Bou for a late lunch at the "Buddha Chillout Lounge" where I managed to dislodge the lid of the pepper and pour the entire contents over my lunch! My tortilla and salad were swiftly removed, and a completely new dish brought out to me. Service with a smile - although the waiter did tease me for the rest of the time we were there!
