A slice of Lesley's life

Spot the wrongness

If it's this tidy around the pool it can only mean one thing - operation pack-up is well and truly under way.

The last beach trip, waves were jumped relentlessly, and kids were eventually dragged from the sea but too late for us to make it to the hottest lunch spot on the front. Maybe next year we will make it there.

Still, there are many options and a fine beachfront lunch was had, including waffles and ice-cream that, incredibly, defeated Anna.

Eventually home for packing and sorting.

Final pool dip, final table tennis match, final barbecue, final game of Uno on the terrace. Actually, also a first game of Uno. Almost all card games have been eclipsed by Hearts this year. The brutality of which suits our family in quite an alarming fashion.

The kids are in bed and now a final nightcap on the terrace is in order. And probably a fond reminisce of the last month, a plan for next year and a reminder to ourselves of not only how lucky we are to come and live here each summer but also that we have a very fine existence waiting for us in London too.

Leaving this is hard though.
