François

This morning I went through to Edinburgh. I met up with an old friend, the jazz singer Todd Gordon in Fredericks Coffee House. We discussed the possibility of him performing at Mackintosh Queen's Cross next year.

The afternoon I spent wandering around the Royal Mile taking photos of some of the street performers. This is François, a very stylish Frenchman who performed a fabulous high wire act. Not just that he was so funny getting the crowd and especially the children involved.

I then went and had a fabulous lunch at the Outsider in the Old Town.

Todd had recommended I go and see Joe Stilgoe at the Assembly Checkpoint. I was not disappointed, singer-pianist Joe Stilgoe’s Songs on Film show is absolutely fabulous. He makes you feel good, puts a smile on the face and sends you out with one of your favourite film melodies ringing in your ears.

With musical support on double bass by Tom Farmer and drummer Ben Reynolds, you are taken on a wonderful journey of film music and song.

Joe is more than an musician, he is a showman and one with a great sense of humour. One of the highlights was a beautiful rendition of Arthur’s Theme. Definitely a five star performance.
