A little bit of history on Watery Wednesday.......
Several times when I had parked the car to go shopping I have meant to have a look at the Godalming Navigation wharf. Today I did. It was a thriving wharf in the 19th century with many buildings and warehouses spread over 10 acres. Sadly today much of the area is filled with supermarkets and car parks. However, a few barges remain, some are even horse drawn.
I particularly liked this barge, which is used to transport tourists along the canal and River Wey. The colourful rudder caught my eye with its bright paint and knot work.
