I knew it was old, but according to Wikipedia, Vicar's Close in Wells is: "claimed to be the oldest purely residential street with its original buildings all surviving intact in Europe. John Julius Norwich calls it 'that rarest of survivals, a planned street of the mid-14th century' ", many of which are Grade 1 listed. I'd love to see inside any one of these homes.
I wasn't being overly boastful yesterday - hubby is in total agreement about the red cabbage!
