Shadow Symmetry

I could begin to take this current weather pattern quite personally. After the gale force winds and heavy showers of yesterday, today dawned clear and still and sunny (as it so often has this summer following an indifferent weekend), taunting us folk heading back into work. At least I was able to enjoy a commute into the office on the bike and enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet before hitting the busy roads and then a long day of problem solving.

It wasn't as pretty as this on the way home. After getting wet at lunchtime after finding the only shower of the day, it started raining again just as I was leaving for home. It was almost dark by the time I arrived. It surely does feel like summer is slipping away.

For those who were wondering, yesterday's shot was of Rocking Hall, a pair of shooting lodges (one for the shooters, the other for the beaters) high up on the moors of the Bolton Abbey Estate. I parked my bike up near Thuscross Reservoir and ran up from the east side right into the teeth of the gale. I was very glad that I had the good sense to take my winter gloves with me. I needed them. Plus thermals and waterproofs. I'm not really sure where I found the will to get out of the house at all, but I was so glad I did. It was as exhilarating as it was exhausting. At one point while cycling I got side-swiped by a huge gust and almost got blown into a ditch. I just about managed to keep the bike on the road by leaning right into the wind.
