Fungus

August rains have created perfect conditions for the growth of mushrooms and fungus. Today was a beautiful sunny day, so I took a walk through the woods near our house to see what nature had to offer. There were at least 20 different types of mushrooms, but this, which I would call a fungus, was a new one for me. It was about 4-5 inches across and was growing on an old log.
Two big piles of bear scat made me a little wary, but fortunately I did not see the bear!
