Day 3 - Bournemouth to Worthing
Today was relatively flat, which is just as well as muscles are beginning to complain and I am pretty tired, mainly because I am not getting as much sleep as I would like: there is obviously a skill to shutting down the body after a day of continuous exercise and I haven't mastered this yet! Another 80 miles under my belt.
We had a nice run down to the Isle of Wight ferry followed by a ride around the top of the island. We holidayed on the IoW when the kids were quite small, but I didn't recognise anything! But nice scenery.
Coming off the ferry back to the mainland the heavens opened, but luckily not for long: the sun came out again as you can see in the picture. I rode all day with the girls and also Chris Jagger who has been absolutely wonderful. He always knows exactly where we are going and looks after us newbies really well.
Key discovery of the trip so far: we have stopped at lots of garden centres for our breaks as it turns out they do great coffee and really good cakes. Who would have known!!
Oh, and I managed two punctures today (my third in total) which was very annoying, but Chris and the group got to work and I was soon back in action (twice!). Time for new outer tubes which the brilliant support team are fitting for me as I write.
Tomorrow is another reasonably flat day along the Kent coast up to Folkestone to the second corner of Great Britain before we turn back West for the first zig (or is that the first zag?).
