Festival fun...

Took the afternoon off today, for my annual day at the Fringe with ES and YS. We were trying to work out when this tradition started but no-one is quite sure...
Caught the 13.15 train from Glasgow, then headed for George Street, where we had a delicious lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. After lunch we spent some time browsing in St Andrew's Square, which was looking really nice with lots of bars and cafes, an art exhibition and some little stalls. There were also some lovely birds of prey on display.
Our first show was at 5 pm in Upstairs at Le Monde. Those of you who are old enough to remember the film "Midnight Express" will know that the main character was an American who got caught at Istanbul airport with hashish strapped round his body. He spent the next 5 years in a Turkish jail. Well the real man behind those events was a man named Billy Hayes who is doing a live show at the Fringe describing what it was like. He is a trained actor and he does it very well. It made for an interesting and intense event.
Next we saw a comedian/singer called Lloyd Griffiths (from Grimsby) in a show called "Voice of an Angel, body of a trucker" then finally a musical event about Janis Joplin. All the shows were great and we had a really great day! If you haven't yet been to the Fringe, then I would thoroughly recommend that you make the effort to go... whatever kind of show you like, you'll find something to suit you....
