Festival!

We spent Friday over in the Big City, enjoying the festival atmosphere.

The Fringe entertainers in the Royal Mile. The Aperol Spritz garden in St Andrew Square. The Book Festival in Charlotte Square.

We even queued up for tickets for a show on Saturday - Michael Mittelmaier. A Bavarian comedian. Should be fun...

Hunger arrived about 5:30 in the West End. I was scratching my head for some inspiration about where to eat. Decided a stroll along Rose Street (not in the pubs) might help.

Suddenly I thought of Calistoga - a Californian place in one of the lanes. Turned out wonderfully. Great food, wine and service, and all very reasonable off their daytime menu.

Dr D spent time working in San Francisco when in her 20s, so the choice suited her well.
