Day 1 - Truro to Exeter

Yesterday's 38 miles (60km) from Land's End to Truro was a little warm-up! Today was the start of the real thing: about 110 miles (175km), total climbs of over 6,000 ft (approx. 2,000 m)‎ with some rain and some shine. And much of this on a busy main road - the A30 which runs across much of South West England.

Well, we all made it in about 10 hours of riding‎ and the picture shows me with some of the team in front of Exeter Cathedral. ‎We are still smiling, even if tomorrow's leg is expected to be harder than today's...

As you know, today was my day to for Ryan Cornwall. I am deeply honoured to have had the opportunity to ride for Ryan and thinking of him and everything he and his family have been through fighting his brain tumour gave me the strength to overcome what were, in comparison, the rather small trials of the day. Here is a small clip‎ of me explaining my thoughts on this before the ride: mediaspace.nottingham.ac.uk/media/Life+Cycle+4+-+Riding+in+honour+of+Ryan+Cornwall/1_tgjbh30t/12064492

A little less than 90% to go!
