Sighting #7: "Pity the hearts the wild waves part"

So what are ghosts? One popular theory is that they are effectively recordings imprinted onto their surroundings that are "played back" in the right conditions or for the right kind of sensitive individuals.

An event or a scene might be recorded because it was associated with extreme emotion, such as fear, grief or anxiety, or through repetition. Or in this case, both.

Photographed at Cullen harbour, this transparent figure appears to be dressed in the style of a Scottish fishwife from the early 20th century. Perhaps, with her husband and sons at sea, whenever ominous clouds gathered in the sky and the wind began to rise, she would make her way to the end of the quay and anxiously peer out towards the horizon, hoping to spot the fleet coming home.

The title of today's blip comes from the song The Bonnie Barque the Bergen by Jez Lowe, about a woman waking up from dreaming that her husband has been lost at sea.

And...that concludes my series of fake ghost photos! They were:

Grey Lady
A light touch
Ghost at the feast
Night terrors
Anomaly
On the other side

I've had great fun doing them :) Thank you all so much for your comments, interest and encouragement!
