Angst

Turns out there was more bother to the whole iPhone thing yesterday. I left he thing connected to the PC as the first thing that needed doing was to backup what ws on the phone to the PC. This morning the whole process had stopped. I looked in the foilder where the backup should have gone but there were no files. I pressed the cancel button on the backup progress window, no response. I checked the phone was still ok and disconnected it. iTunes did not recognise that the phone had been disconnected and still said it was backing up. I started task manager and ended the iTunes application. No response. I switched to teh process tab and tried to end the iTunes process. No response. I selected 'Log Off' from the start menu, guess what, no response. I switched to my user ID and tried to shut down, no response. More and more I was thinking I was going to have to do the unthinkable and physically power down the PC, which I hate doing.

On powering up the PC took around 15 minutes, hard drives whirring all the time before I got the log in screen. I uninstalled iTunes and restarted. Still 15 minutes to start up. I remembered having turned on indexing recently wich said it could slow certain things down, so I turned that off and restarted. 15 minutes to boot.

I downloaded the windows malicious software removal tool just in case, 2 hour scan and nothing untoward found.

It is now nearly 1 in the morning and at all times the hard drives are whirring away, I'm going to do a full virus check over night to see if that turns up anything but I am at a loss. I have an XP hard drive so I'll try that in the morning and see if the problem persists but I'm bamboozled!

So I took my anger out on many people with big guns in Borderlands and reached what I assume is just about the end, so at least I got somewhere with all the pent up rage.
