Memory Lane

This afternoon Gareth and I spent an hour or two touring 'Memory Lane' in Great Baddow where we grew up. Maddy, Wills and JJ weren't so interested of course - but they did have a nice time in the park and Gareth and I had a lovely time exploring scenes from childhood, so everyone was happy. There is a little painting of Baddow that hangs in Dad's lounge - Mum bought it c.1980, not long before they moved back to London - which shows the same view as today's photograph, without the cars.

Tonight, Gareth and I, sans kids, returned to the scene of the painting to have dinner in The White Horse - Dad's "local" throughout the 70's. It was good to have some quiet time together in this space that we associate with our Dad, it felt, well, comfortable.
