'beam me up scotty'...

...or rather 'beam me in Gavin' as this is a brachytherapy machine cleverly disguised as what looks more like a speed camera.
Inside is a 'safe' containing a source of the radioactive isotope Iridium 192 (great name for a band!) for internal beam radiotherapy.
No guessing as to where 'internal' is for us girls involving yet more 'show us yer knickers!'
The radiation is applied via an inserted cylinder which is connected to the black gidget which in turn is connected by a wire to the 'speed camera'.

A few clunking and whirring minutes later G comes back into the room waving a dosimeter to make sure the Iridium 192 is back in its box and all is clear.
So one more on Thursday and then it really will be all over.
