caught, blue handed
Inspired by others' blueberry picking antics we made a bee-line to a pick your own farm. Incredibly it was our first time picking blueberries, and to be our last in the US. The local farm wasn't open today so we had to go a little further afield, but once there we were rewarded for our journey. As well as blueberries we were able to pick peaches, although ripe ones were in short supply today, and marvel at the shimmering colours of the cut your own zinnias and snap dragons. Before we began the very serious business of berry picking we pic-niced in the shade of a tree and watched the huge yellow and blue Swallowtail butterflies flutter by. Em was eager to begin and scrambled through the nets into the patch. A little sampling may have taken place. Home now and preparing ourselves a nice peach and blueberry crumble and compote for later in the week.
