Hoppe's Garden Bristro
This afternoon the two of us decided to get a mid-afternoon meal at Hoppe's Bakery, when we discovered Hoppe's Garden Bistro or I should express "The GARDEN." The Bistro and the Bakery are ajacent to each other.
Hoppe's is located in the historic Way Station, a propery that dates back to the founding of Cayucos. The main dining room was built in 1876 and formerly housed weary travelers on their way along the coast. William Randolph Hearst stopped at Hoppe's many times before his famous castle was completed a few miles up the coast. Today the property includes beautiful gardens and luxury vacation rentals, as well as the Bistro & Bakery.
The gardens are hidden from Ocean Avenue where the formal white table cloth dining room can be seen. Once we were seated, the menu revealed fine dining. We splurged.
For his entree Mr. Fun ordered Cayucos grown abalone. For my dessert I ordered Lavendar Creme Burlee. Everything was delicious.
This was more than a mid-afternoon meal; this was a date! AND we continued the celebration of our "Fiftieth Summer."
