Ludwig Guttman

Good news...I am no longer neutropenic...woohoo...but temperature is still misbehaving so I'm not going home today :(

Managed, after much persuading, to get the nurses to agree I could go outside for a stroll with Matt....good to be out.

We walked past this statue of Ludwig Guttman which stands outside the National Spinal Injury Centre which he established and opened in 1944.

In 1948 he organised the first paraplegic games at Stoke Mandeville and there is a big sports and hotel complex with excellent facilities at the back of the hospital.

With luck I might go home tomorrow. ...
