It's been a while

since I saw one of these* - quite possibly twenty years or more?
We had a later than usual morning walk today due to the weather - glorious one moment - cats & dogs the next. So that might account for me simply not usually being in the village at that time of day. I know it won't have just started turning up - but we've lived here for fifteen years & I've never seen the mobile library in the village before - I admit it won't be something I've thought much about - but if I'd had to have guessed I'd have said that it was a service that would have disappeared years ago.

Following on from my blip here- even as I failed to find out much about Orton Liberal Club I did read plenty about how prosperous and busy the village used to be - four pubs, a butchers, bakers and mill - as well as the market centre for the region - so whilst the library's not quite same at least (like the really well regarded school and our excellent shop) it does help keep the village supplied with the some of the amenities that make living here so good.

*If I'm honest the first thing I thought of when I saw it was the Mad Max movies.
