Jumping in Feet First

I took the long way home after my cello lesson this afternoon, driving along a route that would allow me to cruise past Lake Whatcom and Bloedel Donovan Park. As I approached the park, I pulled over and found a shady spot for my car and cello, and walked over to the lake.

My hunch was correct. On a warm summer day like today, "the jumpers" were out in force. Young men, along with a handful of boys and girls, climb up the steep bank, then shimmy across pipes to get into position so they can L E A P feet first into the refreshing waters of the lake, about a 12 foot drop.

It looked like such good fun, I was tempted to jump in myself, but I snapped a few photos, then hurried home to prepare for the arrival of The Cello Posse and another Gershwin practice session.

Geronimo!!
