"school days"
A great night out at home with Claire and Stephen!
Dinner in the Westville led to catching up with the lovely Mrs Lee and her husband. And what a chinwag it was! From memories of school days with her to current educational 'issues' in Fermanagh that are starting to get personal!
For the record, a GCSE and/or A-Level achieved at Devenish is exactly the same as a GCSE and/or A-Level achieved at either Portora or the Collegiate. I sat exactly the same papers as the Christmas trees and the bumble bees, and worked just as hard to get the grades! So what if Devenish produces more plumbers and electricians than doctors and dentists?! As Mrs Lee said we need, and are thankful for both sets of people when things go wrong.
I was a failed 11+ exam, High School student who achieved 4 A-Levels and a 1st at university! I will NOT have anyone say, or make a suggestion that Devenish pupils are less intelligent and/or more educationally challenged than their grammar school peers.
Rant over!
A bottle of wine and a few beers later we said goodbye and headed to Blakes where they were handing out free copies of Midnight Graffiti's album and I introduced Stephen to Magners with blackcurrant! It was a thumbs up! :)
We also entered a raffle, for what cause I can't remember, but we clearly didn't win any of the prizes! :(
Great to see these two again, looking forward to another catch up in July!
