The Great Blue Heron...

Exciting day today, as we headed for the "Ding" Darling reserve for our kayacking adventure. We joined a group with a guide for the first couple of hours, and followed the kayack trail around 17 stops through the mangroves...
We saw lots of interesting wildlife...watersnakes, pelicans, egrets, herons, starfish, crabs, jumping fish and even manatees...
We had the kayacks out for the rest of the day, but about lunchtime the others headed back and I swapped the double kayack D and I had shared for a single one and set off on a solo outing. It was very peaceful out on the water, and I saw more on my own than I had with the others. At one time I had a group of manatees around me and could hear them exhaling air as they pushed their little snouts above the water.
In the evening, we ate in a very nice Italian restaurant called Mazaluna...
