Bridge House, Ambleside

Having packed a car load of gear for every eventuality we did wonder how we managed to fit everything in when our three boys accompanied us on holiday.

The forecast for today was not brilliant but as we called in to York we were pleasantly surprised that it was relatively dry. A 5km run round the racecourse certainly raised the heart rate and hopefully sets us up for some decent runs this week.

We called in at the event centre near Kendal to pick up our race bibs and Lakes 5 day O top - which may get its first outing tomorrow.

We then meandered towards Ambleside for a wander around before settling in to the cottage we are staying in. Heavy showers meant the streams were in spate as they descended from the fells.

Rather a grey day for any landscapes so settled for the iconic Bridge House.
