The Harvest Begins
20.2C and dull with complete cloud cover. Light breeze.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch. There was much more cloud than we have seen for quite some time. We went down the field with the bridle path to the shore and walked along the beach. The tide was well out.
On the way back up the road we saw this combine harvester just starting work in the bottom half of the field that runs down to the shore. The top half of the field has barley and the bottom half oil seed rape. In the foreground you can see part of the trailer which brings the cutting blade assembly when the combine is travelling by road. It is only attached when the machine is about to start work.
